The following message was posted to: dance-tech University of the West of England, Bristol Faculty of Art, Media and Design IGT-Art Seminar 2003 Interactive, Generative and Telematic Arts In Public Places and Alternative Environments 5 February 2003 The seminar is organised by the Digital Media Research Centre of the University of the West of England to discuss current production or art-works and performances based around computer interaction and generative arts. The seminar will consist of several presentations by key figures of the interactive/generative arts field. Among these: Michel Waisvisz [STEIM, Netherlands] Joel Ryan, (Steim, Netherlands) Dr Sue Broadhurst [Brunel University, UK] Annie Lovejoy (independent artist, UK] Robin Blackledge [independent artist, UK] Michel Waisevich is a musician and inventor of electronic instruments who has worked with, among many others, Laurie Anderson and DJ Spooky. Joel Ryan is a composer and long time collaborator with the William Forsythe Ballet company. Sue Broadhurst will be talking about Blue Bloodshot Flowers" a work involving a dancer and Jeremiah a virtual animated character who responds to the dancer and the audience. Annie Lovejoy will be talking about her telematic artwork and her work with wearable computers. With Martin Dupras she will be demonstrating a jacket fitted with sensors which triggers music and images. Robin Blackledge was the lead artist in "Lightshift" an exhibition of interactive works in the Forest of Dean. The presentations will be followed by a plenary session during which the current issues and research questions pertaining to the pursuit of interactive, generative and telematic arts will be discussed. Researchers from the Digital Media Research Centre will introduce their new website, which incorporates a new library of methods for interactivemedia art.
