Topics may include, but are not limited to, Defining Traditional Dance in the Contemporary World, Tracking Changes in Traditional Forms, Contemporary Dance as Mating Practice, Affirming Cultural Identity through Dance, Traditional Dance as Creative Expression, Dancing to Stay Sane, Traditional Cultural and Social Dance in Contemporary Environements, Carnival and Competition, The Economics of a Life in Dance, Why Children Dance, Dance to Remember/Dance to Forget, Translating Traditional Dances for Theater, Dance in the Technological Age, Dance Fads and Manias, Watching People Dance. We anticipate that specific contemporary expressions of dance and practices will serve as points of departure for these papers.
