A reminder from the dance-tech moderator (was Re: Soft for Dancers Up Date #2...)
From: Scott Sutherland (scott@scottsutherland.com)

Since some of the comments in the current dance-tech thread have been a
bit sarcastic, I want to take a moment to remind everyone that we're a
community here and the goal of this list is to foster discussion
and debate, not to stifle it. Please treat everyone on the list
with respect and courtesy. This does not in any way mean that we
shouldn't disagree, but that we should do it in a way that is
constructive and conducive to further conversation. I try very hard
never to be a censor, but I will send postings back to their authors if I
feel they violate the spirit of this community.
One more note for those of us (like me) who are native
English-speakers. It's a privilege for us to have the
discussion on this list in our own language. This makes sense,
given the makeup of the list, but we should keep in mind that many of our
community members are not nearly as comfortable with English as we
are. This is another excellent reason for being courteous and slow
to criticize.
For those of you who may yourselves be less comfortable posting in
English, I will be happy to help translate or find someone who can.
I'm reasonably comfortable with German (at least with a dictionary handy
:-), and I'll bet we have no shortage of volunteers to help with other
languages. There's also no reason why we can't include multiple
languages in a posting, but please include at least an English summary so
I can do my job as moderator. If you need my help translating, or
wish to volunteer as a translator, please contact me directly at
scott@scottsutherland.com .
Thanks for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Scott Sutherland
