Kema says :
to keep it simple and straightforward :
In terms of dance, not a dictionary definition,
a gesture is a movement that has no transference of weight i.e. a hand raised, a nod of the head basically a movement that does not travel.
Something that any intermediate dance student would know.

I guess I would add "something only an intermidiate dance student would know".
I'm afraid this is simply silly. Of course you can tack on this sort of a definition in a term paper, just to define a limited approach to a problem in a specific context. But I'm afraid that, even as intermediary dance students, we can't accept for gospel the classification systems of our favorite teachers. Use your head! (Is this a gesture or a movement?)
