i knew i should have paidmore attention in ballet class.

but if we did have theperfect script, it would not only be procedurally correct it wouldalso include kinematics, physics and optical illusions. setup therule correctly (easy this is a perfect script) and you have qualitiesof grounding and suspension in the whole body. and interpretation i asolution, one of many. solutions can be modeled repeated and varied.

is reading / performingthe script and act of interpretation? or are you looking for aparticular aesthetic? and if a computer is interpreting the scoreshould we be applying human aesthetic? i guess the obvious responsewould be, a classical ballet aesthetic. well if you can define it,show it, perform it, it can be modeled, from classical ballet tocontact improvisation. or taking your concept

dance appears to me morea state of sensitivity

sensitivity ismeasurement, measurement can be replicated and made in to processesfor simulation. and if sensitivity is measurement then are you notfollowing a procedure of body (whole body) practice?

yep the code is notation.but by reading it does it become dance? this text is a form ofnotation is it lack interpretation? can not those who read music verywell 'hear' the music? how about those of you well conversant withlaban notation, is there a similarity? this was a question raisedwhen i was at university. a laban score was presented in theperformance space during an evening of performances. performance artor dance performance, conceptual art, or junk?

------

my research is in themodeling and simulation of a dancer. a simulation that can perform,'interpret'. i can see the importance of analyzing the dancing body.i wonder if you mean in reference to performance or movement? orboth.

electromyography (EMG)measures the response of muscle fibers to electrical activity. or theelectrical activity of muscle fibers. it does not measure muscletension. tension is the force exerted at the end points of astretched object. to work this out you need to add kinematics andforce measurement to EMG. (hmmmmn motion capture / tracking)

this has gone into a longone, again.. and there are still many questions, but can i throw this outthere..
