DUPLEX is a duet inspired by two, seemingly opposed, methods of
creation; classical grand pas de deux and new technologies. From the
pas de deux it draws the basic structure and emotional rigour and from
the new technologies, a contemporary interface for an illustration of
two peoples' intimate relationship.

[Obligatory DanceTech content: the choreographic components for the piece
are mediated via an algorithmic core which provides a realtime visual
display for the dancers, and cues and plays the components of the
musical score, according to a set of nonlinear constraints which form
the overall choreographic structure. This is a variant of the system
developed for the Vienna Volksoper commission "Nodding Dog"
(http://www.noddingdog.at), where the score was played by the
orchestra and the software cued by the conductor.
