Choreographers, composers, media and installation artists work with programmers, engineers, architects. Writers and curators talk to DJs and cognitive psychologists. Digital media, evident for some time now in contemporary art and popular culture, challenge our customary perceptions of dance and performance. They necessitate new platforms for experimentation and new forms of interdisciplinary collaboration. Opportunities for learning about creative applications of digital technologies in dance and performance and for developing individual approaches and aesthetics are still rare, and stronger partnerships between choreographers, musicians, and software programmers need to be forged. . . . Think tank participants include Scott deLahunta (Holland/England), Mark Coniglio and Dawn Stoppiello (Troika Ranch, New York), the Boston-based group Interface (Curtis Bahn, Tomie Hahn, with Dan Trueman [Princeton]), Todd Winkler (Providence), David Tonnesen (Belgium/California), Sarah Rubidge (England), Bebe Miller (New York/OSU), Iris Tenge (Germany), Lali Krotoszynski (Brazil), Marc Ainger, Robbie Shaw, Kelly Gottesman, David Tinnaple, Axel Roesler, Liza McConnell (all from Columbus), and organiser Johannes Birringer (Houston/Columbus). This event was created in cooperation with Writing Research Associates (Amsterdam) and is primarily funded by the Office of International Affairs and the Dance Department at The Ohio State University.
