Need replacement for SoundEdit

Just found out that Macromedia isn't going to upgrade SoundEdit16v2 
to Mac OS 10, and our university is embracing 10 quickly. So, I'm 
searching for a comparable sound editing program. Anyone have a 
favorite that could substitute?
