Just a quick note: my fiancee, formerly labelled a sculptor, is at work on an installation incorporating painting, sound, video, sculpture, mosaic...at a loss to define what medium she's working in, she chose the term "intermedia" artist to describe herself. As far as I know, she'd not heard it in connection with my work, but I agree with Dawn: it's interesting... So if i can't even describe what I do, how are other people going to figure it out? I have also tried the idea, based on the works of Nathan Shedroff, of using the term "experience design". And "performance technology". Nothing works--I still get blank looks. I think if we all agreed on a term, and proceeded to severely label a large body of work with that term, we MIGHT be termed a movement...but where's the fun in that? J.
