Dear All

I'm posting an update of my company to this list as it contains quite a few
projects concerned with dance and technology. One day I'll find the time to
explain the ChoreoGraph software in detail. In the meantime - if interested
- there is a lot of info on the various websites mentioned below.

Michael
------------------

Things are going well, so we thought that we would inform you of our
upcoming events in case you find yourself at a loose end during one of
these cold winter nights.

First things first:
Our biggest premiere yet.
Nodding Dog
20th December 2001 Volksoper Vienna
The creative team of Barriedale has gathered to produce an evening of Ballet
for the Volksoper Ballett Company, Vienna. ŒNodding Dog¹ is accompanied by
the Orchestra of the Volksoper and to achieve some non-linear ends we¹ve
incorporated some of the technology that has been paying our way for the
last few years. Nevertheless, be prepared to experience Barriedale¹s
facelift and an evening of dance.

!!Follow the progress and get your screensaver at http://www.noddingdog.at
(designed by Rafal Kosakowski)!!

Duplex
Michael Klien¹s commission by Ballett Frankfurt will premiere on March
6th/7th at the TAT, Frankfurt. This Pas de Deux danced by Jone San Martin
and Fabrice Mazliah is a major step in Barriedale¹s pursuit of non-linear
choreography.
supported by the ACE

ProsXima¹s Drift
The Greek company Prosxima joined the non-linear train last year by
commissioning Nick Mortimore and Michael Klien to create a fluid work of
dance. This they did and those involved were so happy with it that they
decided to revive it for a Viennese audience. The Tanz Quartier Wien (TQW)
invited them and it will be performed on the 7th, 8th & 9th of Feb 2002 at
the HalleG, Museums Quarters Vienna.

Research at TQW
We will spend most of January 2002 at the Tanz Quatier Wien, researching and
extending our choreographic methods that allow us to created the pieces we
do. A public showing will take place on 12th January 2002, TQW; Vienna

Aural Codes
Volkmar Klien has just finished the first run of his 24/7 radio installation
Œaural codes¹ (London, Manchester, Huddersfield). Further information at
http://www.aural-codes.com

ChoreoGraph:
Our on-going software-development has picked up speed under our new chief of
creative computing, Dr. Nick Rothwell, who is actively engaged in each of
the projects concerned which include both Nodding Dog and Duplex.

Future projects:

- Michael Klien is currently preparing a Ballet, which will be produced by
TQW (Vienna) and ZKM (Karlsruhe) for the 2002/03 season.

- Nick Mortimore is trying hard to enthuse the Zeitkratzer music ensemble in
Stuttgart to implement his planned cross-over score for dance and music. If
successful this will happen in Feb 2002.

- Davide Terlingo is working on a new Œchoreographic landscape¹ for a
variable number of dancers (between 2-7) to be premiered mid 2002. He is
also preparing a series of scripts about Œnon-linear choreography¹ for
publication.
