Media in dance

Hello everyone, I recently joined the list and would like to introduce
myself. I am a graduate of the University of Iowa dance department and I
have completed an MA and MFA in Intermedia and Video art at the same
institution. As a graduate I worked with choreographers Shouze Ma, Cecil
Slaughter (from Dayton Contemporary), Rani Welch, faculty member Armando
Duarte, and others in bringing media onto the stage. With the limited
technology (video and slide projectors) the school had to offer I
collaborated with choreographers to expand the range of content to be viewed
by audiences within the performance.

Currently I teach digital technology at the Art Institute of Portland and
Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon. Last year I presented
a paper at the Dancing in the Millennium conference held in Washington, DC.

If any of you advise graduate students please encourage them to check out
Graduate Students in Dance at www.geocites.com/gre97201
(yes, I know that's not the best URL in the world, but so far it works).

I look forward to participating in the discussion and getting involved where
appropriate.

Best,

Alan Murdock
