[ANN] Troika Ranch - NYC Season

From: Mark Coniglio (troika@panix.com)
Date: 08/26/01

Hi All,

It seems like a million years since I've posted here. Troika and a
rather intense consulting gig has kept me occupied for the last many
months. In any case, here's the announcement for our upcoming show.
We're premiering a new MidiDancer work for a quartet of performers,
each with their own system. I'm using my new software Isadora to
control the interaction, which consists primarily of control of
sound, with some video manipulation as well.

I hope that any of you who are in the NYC area will come - this is
our first two-week run ever, and we really need your support to make
sure that the seats are filled.

Ciao for Now,
Mark

We invite you to join us for our two week long fall season here in
New York. We have four new works to present:

-------

Reine Rien (Premiere) places the audience in an ephemeral otherworld
where four independent souls journey alone while unexpectedly
creating a lush world of sound and image. The four performers
directly create the sound score and manipulate video with their
movement via sensors on their bodies.

Suite Devo (Work in Progress) - Troika Ranch gives their
fierce/whimsical homage to the 80's New Wave techo-group Devo,
including five songs such as "Jocko Homo", "Jerking Back and Forth",
and "Through Being Cool". The dancers groove in front of a rapid
fire, ever-changing background of imagery set to Artistic Director
Mark Coniglio's arrangements of the Devo songs. The songs feature
Victoria Macintosh, Mark's Powerbook G4 Computer on lead vocals.

Piso Mojado - In Artistic Director Dawn Stoppiello's new solo, we see
a woman searching for stability in a world where her support (the
floor, the earth, the present) feels fleeting, slippery, and
dangerous.

Flowing Of Honey: two dancers shed technology and turn to text and
movement to explore mortality when faced with a chronic illness.

-------

We'll be joined by our wonderful company of dancers, Danielle
Goldman, Lisa Herlinger Thompson, Michou Szabo, Sandra Tillett, as
well as special guest artists Anthony Gongora and Lisa Townsend.

The pertinent info regarding ticket prices and location can be found
below. We hope that you will join us for this exciting new palette of
works.

Ciao,
