Have done quite a bit of editing in Final Cut on a G3 PowerBook and 
on the G4 desktop - no problem with either.  Recommend updating to 
version 1.5, though.  Have also recently discovered the joys of 
iMovie.  Many feel this to be toy software, but in fact if all you 
need is simple cuts or simple transitions and not too complex sound 
requirements, it's really a very very nifty piece of software.  Free, 
I believe, to Mac users.  Certainly if you're using something like 
EditDV or Premiere, forget it and use iMovie instead!
