contemporary class and execute complex choreography for the duration
of the workshop.

Class : 2H30 with one break of 10 minutes.
Starts on floor. A series of stretching and strength exercises that
awakens, opens up and give tone to all of the articulations and
muscular chains without impact. The exercise strings are based on
contemporary floor bar, The Pilates Method, yoga and release work.
The standing work consists of a series of repeatable exercise phrases
drawing from modern, contemporary and release technique and can
include acrobatic aspects.
Center floor phrases combine contemporary, release and acrobatics. It
is very physical, spatial, generally organic but may include
challenging counter-intuitive movements. It makes precise use of
different directions as well as going in and out of the floor.

Research and composition : 3H with two breaks of 5 minutes.
This period is devoted to introduction and investigation into various
tools and concepts useful in choreographic composition. Work will be
done alone, in partnership, in groups and collectively. Among topics
covered are: speed, amplitude and directionality modulation,
stylistic cross-pollination. An investigation of the idea of "domain
contamination" or the application to gesture and movement, of
manipulation techniques such as those used in computer graphics or
digital video: cut and splice, cross-fade, scrubbing, morphing,
fusion, mirroring to different planes, deformation by contraction,
extrusion, dispersion, undulation, fragmentation etc. There will be
explorations into the application of these ideas to partnering,
contact and group work.
