I just want to remind everyone about next weekends Subtle Technologies Conference in Toronto . There will be a lot of interesting topics relevant to this group. Specifically :

Maja Kuzmanovic & David Tonnesen will speak about TGarden a collaborative/interactive dance/performance/play space in which participants wear clothing with embedded sensors to collaboratively control their environment

Andrea Polli will be demonstrating her eye tracking system and perform with DJ Neil Wiernik.

Johannes Birringer will investigate the notion of intelligent spaces and emergent systems and look at some examples from his "Environments Laboratory"

Sageev Oore will demonstrate a new method of pupeteering using the Polhemus Motion Tracking System

Josh Bongard and Dale Thomas will talk about the artificial life systems they use to grow robotic structures and aestheticly pleasing living shapes

Due to it's multidisciplinary nature this conference is a great place to explore and generate new ideas.
If anyone wants any further details please feel free to send me an email. There is more information below.
Hope to meet some of you there!!

The Subtle Technologies Conference is a 4-day multidisciplinary event that explores the strands and patterns of thought, feeling and culture, that connect and resonate in the space between art and science. Established in 1998, Subtle Technologies is a not-for-profit arts organization, dedicated to investigating the relationships between art, science and technology.

We hope to provide an immersive conference environment, which encourages the discussion and development of new concepts and areas of research in both the arts and sciences, fusing topics that range from quantum physics to dance.

Some of the many other topics that will be explored during each 50 minute presentation include: artificial intelligence, topology (a field of mathematics), genetic algorithms for creating music, consciousness, interactivity, ancient cave inscriptions, brainwaves, sociology, magnetic fields and alternative computer interfaces.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
The Subtle Technologies Conference would like to acknowledge the support of this year's sponsors: Toronto Arts Council, Science for Peace, InterAccess Media Arts Centre, VTape, Year01 and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
