On April 10 at 8pm, "interface" (Curtis Bahn and Dan Trueman) will present an evening of multi-media electronic improvisations to celebrate the release of their first group CD -- ./swank -- on Cycling 74's new label, "c74." The performance, at Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn, NY (http://www.galapagosartspace.com), will feature: --Curtis (on his "sensor-bass"), --Dan (on electric violin and Bowed-Sensor-Speaker-Array) and guests: --Tomie Hahn (SSpeaPer interactive dance system), --Perry Cook (on Digital-doo, sensor digeridoo), --R. Luke DuBois and Mark McNamara (performance video), and --Monica Mugan (spoken voice/graphics tablet). For more information about "interface" (including audio and video examples), visit their website: http://music.princeton.edu/~crb/interface). >>>>>>>>>>>>> Cycling 74's new label announcement: >>>>>>>>>>>>> We'd like to take a minute to tell you about something new happening at Cycling '74. In addition to making software you use to make art and music, we're launching c74, a recording label devoted to works by artists the world over who use Cycling '74 software technology to make astounding music and art. The label cheerfully presents a wide range of genres and contexts in which the community of composers and performers who use Cycling '74 software work, from traditional electroacoustic music to electronica and beyond. c74 will also feature areas of activity not recorded as such by other labels: live performances of interactive systems, less predictable works by individual artists who are already well-known, and hybrid releases which may include Cycling '74 software examples in a data portion of the CD. The first two releases are a live release from the Freight Elevator Quartet "Fix It In Post", and "./swank", a Max/MSP-driven improvisational workout from the duo Interface (consisting of Dan Trueman and Curtis Bahn). c74 recordings will be available by subscription or as individual releases through the c74 website in about a week, and (soon) through more traditional distribution channels.
