= Troika Ranch Summer Workshop =
================================

New York City -- June 11-16, 2001
Application Deadline: April 16th, 2001

New York City based dance theater company Troika Ranch will present
its Live-Interactive (Live-I) Workshop, an intensive seminar for
artists and advanced students who want to explore the use of
interactive computer technology in the creation and performance of
dance, theater, and related live artworks. The workshop will take
place from June 11-16, 2001 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, one subway
stop from Manhattan. Cost of the workshop is $400.

Led by composer/programmer Mark Coniglio and choreographer Dawn
Stoppiello, Artistic Co-Directors of Troika Ranch, the workshop gives
the participants the opportunity to experiment with technological
tools that allow their gestures and vocalizations to interactively
control video, sound, light and other computer controllable media.
Participants will be given an introduction to the available
technological tools and the techniques required to use them as they
create short studies over the course of the workshop. This work will
be complimented by critical discussions regarding how the use of
media and technology shapes the form and content of the artwork. To
help participants continue their explorations after the workshop has
ended, each will be given a copy of Conniglio's new interactive
performance software Isadora. This video/audio/midi processing
software for Mac and PC will be one of the core software tools used
by the students in the workshop.

Registration for the Live-I Workshop is limited. Only twelve
participants can be accepted for the week long session.
