Exploring new environments for interactive dance, the lab ensemble has
created a series of performed installations since 1999. Different
spatial constellations (sculptural constructions, suspended objects,
territories, natural/organic and artificial textures, projections),
surreal costumes, movements, and digital media were combined to evoke
sensual and visceral intensities which express our ambivalent
relationship to virtual space.

ìGhost Islandî includes several digital films and strands of
narrative delving into the subconscious of the performersí experience in
isolated/insulated environments (island, prison cell, monastery,
abandoned house, childhood). The performance involves the audience in
the constant shift between present location and images transmitted from
remote sites or captured from memories of isolation. The dance in ìGhost
Islandî is
movement-in-between, evoking transitional stages in our lives and
imaginations, stages of lightness and darkness, stages of uncertainty of
belonging.
