The Changing Faces of Gesture
A Dance/Video/Feedback performance and discussion
to coincide with AIR exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography

Charlotte Boye-Christensen (choreographer)
Usman Haque (video artist)

Saturday, December 16, 2000 @ 19:00 -- Hillside Gallery, Daikanyama
(Hillside Terrace A, 29-18 Sarugaku-cho)
25 minutes plus a discussion and wine
Part of the performance will be outside; please wear warm clothes!

The performance consists of one dancer and 4 large video projections.
Using a simple video feedback system (where a video camera is pointed
towards the screen upon which its image is being projected), complex
images are created in real time which are manipulated by the
performer's movements. Images created resemble reflections in a
puddle; these are coloured using filters on both the cameras and the
video-projectors. Furthermore, each projector can be separately
controlled to multiply the effects and simulate everything from a
solitary dancing shadow to a bustling crowd of people, creating
various levels of "dialog".
