Teach courses in at least one other area of expertise from the following: composition, repertory (modern genre preferred), dance studies (history, criticism, theory and /or ethnography), modern technique, improvisation, dance science, or multimedia/technology. The candidate will be expected to carry out an active program of research activity/creativity. The University recognizes choreography, performance and/or scholarly publication as appropriate forms of research. Further duties include choreographing for student concerts, serving on all levels of university committees, advising students, and providing service to the profession.<br> <br> <b>QUALIFICATIONS: </b>Candidates must have an MFA or, in exceptional cases, outstanding professional experience plus a bachelorís degree. Candidates must have experience teaching ballet at the professional and university level. Experience in working with diverse populations is desirable.<br> <br> <b>SALARY:</b> Commensurate with experience, background and education.<br> <br> <b>GENERAL INFORMATION: </b>The University of Wisconsin Dance Program is a leader and innovator in the field of dance. In 1926, under the leadership of Margaret HíDoubler, UW-Madison became the first university to offer a degree program in dance. The Dance Program offers a BS and BFA in dance with emphasis in modern dance performance and choreography. In 1990 the Dance Program established the cutting edge Interarts and Technology (IATECH) major option, integrating computer and video technologies with movement, sound and visual arts. The IATECH program is currently a leader in this exciting new field, expanding the frontiers of media and the arts in both practice and performance. The Dance Program is located in recently remodeled Lathrop Hall. Facilities include the new state-of-the-art Margaret HíDoubler Performance Space, four spacious dance studios, video and sound labs and a black box multimedia performance lab. The Program regularly offers master classes and residencies by prominent artists to educate students on professional techniques, to create new works with students, and to provide opportunities for them to interact personally with leaders in the field.<br> <br> <b>APPLICATION PROCEDURES: </b>Completed application deadline is February 15, 2001.
