The Co-Directors of Company in Space, Hellen Sky and John McCormick, have
established a reputed dedication in the use of new technologies to create
sophisticated performance. Their method of integrating audiences &
performers in diverse global settings to form live interactive experiences
has proven CIS to be "the most widely travelled [and broadcasted] of groups
committed to exploring performance and technology, and for the longest
time?" [Real Time, 2000]

Home, not alone: the launch

ENTER> the Home, not alone installation @ RMIT Capitol Theatre, Upper
Foyer. Three Taxi drivers wait to navigate invited guests through the work.
Assume a character: online, on screen, in the flesh. The Street Dweller,
the Politician and the Flat Dweller occupy their own projection monitor
screens in a positions overlooking the live audience. The observatory
relationship of the audience will be distorted as the eveningıs event
unfolds. Prepare to be engaged.

Home, not alone: the work

ENTER> www.companyinspace.com/home and sit back in the comfort of your own
home creating complex movies laden in personalised statements via
orchestrated online participation. Watch performers on screen, change the
scene, adjust lights and sound track, or send a personal message to the
actor. Re-create the site at will, but remember?you are not alone.

EXIT> and the site remains in continuous dialogue with its global audience
ensuring that the workıs history is constantly re-created in real-time,
never fixed, permanently integrated.

BEYOND THE WEB> Uniquely, Company in Space reconstitute the site by
layering projections of the publicıs visual, aural and intellectual
authorship on urban architectural structures;a new graffiti.

Home, not alone is the product of more than twenty months work made
possible by a unique collaboration between Company in Space artists and
RMIT: programmers from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, researchers based at the Ideas Incubator, part of the Interactive Information Institute [I-CUBED].
Generously supported by : the Australian Film Commission and Arts Victoria.
