<x-rich>People have recently been calling to ask if there is room at the Dancing With the Mouse: Texas Style Conference. Yes there is and here is a tentative list of presenters. A registration form is included. There are also special rates for students. Of course there is the Bountiful Conference Goodie Bag that seems to be growing daily. It is possible to receive a hands-on introduction to at least four software packages used in dance. You can also experience recent developments in software for education and witness a performance with technology components. We do have a special offer for Students. Rather than requiring each student to have one registration for the conference, we permit universities to share student registrations. Therefore, if you register five students, they could be either the same or different students each day of the conference. Example: U, V,W, X, Y, Z attend on Friday and A, B, C, D, Z attend on Saturday. If you choose to take advantage of this offer, the student and faculty accompanying the students are entitled to the pre-registration price through September 10. If this offer does not fit your current situation, the regular registration fees are required. Please contact me if I can do to assist you in any way, or if you need clarification on this offer. The international, multi-generational group of conference presenters will reveal that age is no barrier to implementing technology. Educators who teach dance and have sought methods to integrate technology and other disciplines into their dance courses will find the "hands-on" sessions particularly valuable. They are specific to dance-related software. This conference is not only technology related, but discipline specific--with movement-based studio sessions which may or may not include technology. Following last year's South Carolina conference, an American participant convinced her administrator that the software, Life Forms, would foster interdisciplinary learning by integrating dance and technology. She now has a class of middle school students creating and animating dances with laptop computers. The same instructor used the Chinese silk ribbon skills leaned at the conference to create a unit using the silk and Chinese writing characters. ****************************************** Texas Christian University located in Southwest Fort Worth, is a beautiful campus with easy access to businesses essential to a successful conference. Several restaurants are conveniently located for networking lunches. Duplication services for presenters are directly across the street. The Ballet and Modern Dance Building has three large dance studios, wired for computer and Internet use. October is a wonderful and temperate month on campus, with cool breezes and comfortable days ranging from 57 to 80 degrees. We suggest a sweater or light jacket for the evenings. ****************************************** <bigger>CONFERENCE INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION FORMS (also at the end of this message) </bigger>NDA http://www.aahperd.org/nda/programs-mouse.html TCU http://www.tcu.edu Information only: FORT WORTH http://www.fortworth.com/index1.html RADIO SHACK RETROFEST 2000: Celebrating the 1960's Citywide arts festival http://www.retrofest.com <bigger>****************************************** PROGRAM: OPENING SESSION: </bigger>Thursday, October 12, 7:30 PM: DR.
