Re: Art and Technology

dear community:

As Richard noted, it's been somewhat quiet on our list for the last 6
months, apart from the threads that arose from the workshops at ISA and
Hellerau. And I would urge us to continue to have a genuine discussion
about issues, ideas, projects, and perhaps even work more closely
together on developing some insightful positions, within our loose
community, regarding current developments in, say,

-interactive performance design
-the intelligent stage
-telematic performance/online performance
-motion capture, animation, 3D modeling
-video dance
-CD-ROM projects, dynamic website projects
etc

---such positions could then inform future joint workshops or festivals
or meetings (IDAT..?.....), and it could also inform our public outreach
to our audiences, to sponsoring organisations, our partners in the
dance, theatre, music, peformance art and digital art world: it could
influence how we do residencies and teach at art and dance and music
schools in our various countries, how we create i n d e p e n d e n t
collaborations, or "think tanks," how we share our sharewares, or how we
continue to nurture the network and our communion across cultural
borders, and local contexts. How we use different languages.

Here are some upcoming events that I know of (p l e a s e complement),
and the discussions (and publications arising) could also help us to
build, create, and focus our discourses. Doug, conferences could be
planned for next year, of course, both on the praxis side and on the
critical-theoretical side. Summary reports from events are most
welcome, this helps to build our archive and the historical context
understanding. There are also projects like the DPA (Digital Performance
Archive) in Nottingham that will want such information.
