The sound created by the musician in location B, accompanied by the video image of the reflection of the movement of his hands is transmitted through live webcast and becomes accessible on a dedicated webpage. Received in location A, the sound of this webcast creates a sonic environment for the solo dance performance whereas the video images become a ëpartner/objectí for the dancer to interact with, as the video editor following a detailed choreographic score directs them either on the white back wall of the performance space or the surface of the white dress of the dancer. For this presentation Location A is Lancaster University (Lancaster, UK) and Location B is Broadway Cinema (Nottingham, UK). It proposes a hybrid multi-spatial environment which unfolds within a time frame strictly defined by the travelling of digital information between two different physical locations of the performance.

string has been presented in SHIFTS'00 (Chisenhale Dance Space, London, UK, January 2000, http://www.choreograph.net>) and will be presented again in Performative Sites Conference (Pennsylvania, USA, 26 October 2000, http://www.outreach.psu.edu/C&I/performativesites> ) and in Arts, Sciences et Technologies Conference (La Rochelle, France, 22 November 2000).
