Dead pan experiments on eighties technology will disembowel, tease and play with a captured horde of old computers. MED MACHINE is a collaboration between Bernd Terstegge - an Essen based computer animator/film maker/editor and the Welsh based choreographer Sean Tuan John and British based writer/performer Jessica Levy. The collaboration will incorporate live video manipulation, animation, digital loops juxtaposed with ironic performance style with a hint of satellite shopping channel finesse. MED MACHINE is an innovative, fluid, site-specific performance that deals with the ironic theme of 'Man against machine.' The presentation is a tour around the unusual laboratories of three quasi scientists. Both indoors and outdoors, this performance utilises audience/ performers interaction. The computer animations play with real, present and past time relations that confuse and excite at the same time. The artists began MED MACHINE at the "körper.technik//body.technology" research project at the THEATER DER WELT 1999 in Berlin. MED MACHINE will continue at the European Media Art Festival in Osnabruck, Germany (May 5th,2000). MED MACHINE has been created to be shown at Media Festivals, new technology Conferences and site-specific dance and theatre festivals. MED MACHINE is a production of TANZ PERFORMANCE KOLN within the frame of "pictures of (e) motion" festival and with support of the European Commission Kaleidoscope and INTERARTES.
