The company seeks to challenge and contribute to the arts and society through the exploration of interfaces between cultures, viewed through the technology which defines and separates them. The new artistic forms of expression forged during this process of discovery have the potential to unite disparate individuals across the world in a shared creative experience. <BR>

The provocative works create dialogues between our visual, aural and kinetic perceptions and will be able to exist in a number of media; live performance, installations, video and interactive virtual spaces, accessed from anywhere in the world. <BR>

<B>company in space</B> is based in Melbourne, Victoria. Founded by co-directors Hellen Sky and John McCormick in 1992, the company has consistently pioneered applications of new technology to movement. <BR>
<BR>
As the companyıs work has developed in technical complexity, these interactive systems have become more invisible, leaving a unique and profound amalgam of choreography, visual imagery and sound. Projects to date have involved an impressive array of high profile dance artists, in collaboration with others from the fields of visual arts and sound. <BR>
<BR>
Ongoing research into computer systems for performance has lead to a number of innovative partnerships between <B>company in space</B> and technical organisations. Sponsors include Picture Tel, designers and manufacturers of video conferencing, ISDN, internet and satellite systems and Global Vision Technologies (GVT) the leading suppliers of remote communication technologies to the corporate and tertiary education sector in Australia and Asia. Technical support is also offered by The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and Deakin University in Victoria. In exchange for access to leading-edge technologies such as Mpeg servers and ISDN links, <B>company in space</B> works with students and academics to research and develop computer applications in performance art. The company also consults widely within the national artistic community.<BR>
